My SLANG dictionary

I love 2 speak in the colloquial terms coz that adds 2 the attention of the people who are listening 2 it. It is the best way 2 express ourselves and increase the reach of our speech.
I really love slangs...I have come across many slangs so far which i have listed down below:
  1. Sathyabma (my coll)- Source of all the Tamil slangs
  2. Chennai (my location)- Source of the Tamil language(intense) and its way 2 humor
  3. IIT Madras(sort of a hang out place)- Source of Hindi and intellectual type slangs
  4. Bombay (x-location)- Source of Marathi and Hindi slang
  5. Friends (some of them)- Source of highly influential terms and quotes

SLANGS WHICH I HAVE COME ACROSS(so far):

My College slangs (all Tamil)
  1. da/de- this term is used almost in every sentence and has its base in tamil language which is exactly expressed for stressing on AFFECTION or at times its just used for the sake of using it.;-) eg. hi da, epdi iruka da, y da ?whats wrong...........
  2. Macha/machi -Maximum heard in my college, it exactly refers 2 "a person(spoken 2) who is going to marry the daughter of the speaker", Now thats 2 much of fundas, actually its used for any person who we are familiar with (mainly with close friends), its a gr8 way of addressing a friend or a person of the same age group .eg- yenna machi, macha h r u da?, no macha, machi dont go 2 coll!!.....
  3. Mama/mapilai/mammu- it exactly means "mama(we all know this)" and "mapilai-Son in law" , it holds the same meaning as that of "macha" but the content is a little more intense and is used mainly by Chennai Tamilians(but people get 2 use it often) .Mama sometimes refers to a pimp or a broker who sets up girls(prostitutes).
  4. Mokkai- this is truly a word which means talking irrelevant, Boring lectures, Waste jokes. Many times it may also refer 2 a person's name.eg- mokkai ya irundadu, mokkai sir, mokkai podrain ....
  5. Oatha- this exactly means Fucking but in our college its not taken in this sense as people use it to express excitement or shock or pseudo anger.
  6. Gand- do not confuse as it isn't a hindi term, this is a tamil term which is used when a person gets really pissed with something , sometimes it also expresses anger.eg- gand itain, gand iduvan
  7. Matter- this dosent hold the exact meaning of matter as in science, it is referred to anything related 2 girls, mainly it comes when we talk about sexual intercourse but also sometimes in flirting, problem discussions etc
  8. semma- this is used for anything which as the best or something very entertaining, its synonymous to "2 GOOD" in English. eg- semma hot, semma match, semma ya irundadu
  9. Revete- This is also used to express Boredom, vis-a-vis answering(back answering).
  10. Mudu/Mud ra- this means "close" in Tamil but mainly used as "shut-up" in our college within friends.
  11. Loose- this is very common, in all languages it refers to a mad person or a freak
  12. adang kokka mokka- its a shocking expression which means "Oh My God!!!!!"
  13. Bejaru( pronounced as beh jar)- its very commonly used when something turns to be really annoying, its a feel of tiredness after some boring thing.
  14. Cutting- this is obviously a universal term which refers to "a small peg"
  15. Dubakoor- this is a cranky term and to be more precise it means Crack(its the same as loose)
  16. Kadalai- chatting for a long time with any opposite sex. eg-kadalai podrain
  17. vennai- it means "butter" but actually in our college people use it in a sense "Useless guy".eg poda vennai
  18. Usaar panarthu- to get something done by trickery or some cheating. Mainly comes when we urgently require something which is impossible to get and have no options but 2 cheat.
  19. kilambu( pronounced as ka lam bu)- its a decent way of saying "get lost". Usually this is used if the person is known 2 us , its not taken in a serious context, its always humorous.
  20. kalasita po- its means WOW that was gr8, mainly used with a person who has entertained or performed really well in some field and sometimes it also used when a person manages to do something fairly well without having its knowledge.
  21. Maanga- In Actual sense its " mango" but in slang terms it is "a fool" as students use in our college. This mainly comes when a simple thing is not understood by a person after it has been repeated a number of times.
  22. Peter- a person who displays his/her English skills over too much and many times a person who speaks in English is addressed as peter.
  23. Punnaku- this is very very authentic and used only by few of the Tamilians. It means "a fool or useless person".
  24. Porappu( pronounced as po rya ppu)- it means daily life/survival , by all means it comes only when discussing about a job or for questions like "HOWZ LIFE??".
  25. Thala- this is mainly used by the students when we talk about the cine field. It means "the head or the boss or the leader", mainly its actors who get this title.
  26. Vetti- this in actual tamil as well as in slang terms means " jobless"
  27. Wokay- this is how we say "ok", a very friendly way of telling it as it adds humor to the speech.
  28. Danks baa- this is again a friendly way of telling "Thanks".
  29. Asathita - this means "impressive", this is the same as "kalasita po". This comes when something is done well without expectation or a prior knowledge.
  30. Kalakara- this is again an expression meaning "fabulous or 2 good", this is used in places when a person is really happy about the thing done or happened to the counter part.
  31. Appettu- it means "unsuccessful or failure" and mainly used with a disappointment as in when a person was having expectations but failed 2 achieve.
  32. Kalaikara- this exactly means "pulling someones legs" or "criticizing them"
  33. Scene/Scene ra- its something which a person really likes or something which is really good by nature
  34. Bhai( pronounced as BAI)- its referred to a Muslim guy
  35. Danadanaka- it refers to a victory rhyme or something done with gr8 enthusiasm
  36. ooal/ooal okaran(pronounced as "ol")- it means a lie or a type of an unbelievable thing

There are a lot more which are not striking at this point of time but as and when i get ill revise it to the blog...;-). Now its time for some other slangs apart from my college slang.

  1. Arbit- its an acronym for "arbitrary", its used when someone does something weired or strange.eg- he is doing arbit things, the topic was arbit
  2. Avoid- besides the dictionary meaning, its used when something is annoying and its meant to have a forgiving or an admonitory tone.
  3. Ghas-poos- it means "salad" and mainly used with the green leafy stuff inside the eatery. eg. don't put ghas poos in my plate
  4. God/God level- it means Amazing or the best in something. Very frequently used, its a universal term for any thing alive or dead which is brilliant by nature .
  5. KLPD- its expansion is "खडे लंड पे धोका" and this is is used when something which is easily attainable gives a "RED SIGNAL".eg. इस टेस्ट में मेरा KLPD हो गया
  6. GLP- its expansion is "गांड पे लात".eg. इस कंपनी से GLP मीला
  7. jhand hogai- it means something which was done with full confidence back fired. Its very frequently used in Delhi crowd.
  8. Popat hogaya- this exactly means the same as "jhand hogai" but this is a Mumbaikar term.
  9. jhin-chak- it mean flashy or good, its again a Mumbaikar term
  10. Junta- it is exactly what it means in hindi, its "people or a crowd"
  11. Momay/Saamaan/Chuchha- this is a punjabi term which mean "boobs or breasts", really sounds funny at times when people use it.
  12. Randi (रन्ठी)- it means a bitch, a prostitute or a slut. this is always taken in a cruel sense and comes in the abusive tone.
  13. Breaker- its a slang for breakfast, people usually use this as it looks short and easy to pronounce ( BTW slang is cool so no harm)
  14. Bumps- it exactly means Kicking ass, in the college people usually give bumps to the person on his birthday(this is mandatory) but sometimes if the person irritates with his poor jokes or fundas then this bumps comes 2 play.
  15. Insti- its an acronym for "institute", this is world wide the same so again its a universal term which i am aware off.
  16. Intro- its again a short for "introduction", this is used mainly while ragging but many times its just a way of asking introduction.
  17. chamkaa- its means "to glow" or "lit up" but in the actually context it refers to some understanding of a difficult thing which has been read or explained
  18. crack- its means excellent performance in something. eg- i cracked the exam
  19. Hardcore- its not related to porn in this context, it means intense or something really crazy. eg- hardcore thinking, hardcore chatting
  20. hep- fashionable and cool, this is a very useful term in all senses during a get together, its referred mainly to clothes or goggles or some chain etc
  21. crash- this exactly mean to "go 2 sleep", but mainly suggest that the person is tired and cant wait to sleep
  22. crib- to raise objections, this is a normal English term very readily used
  23. Hugga/hug- its real meaning in Hindi is "Shit" but here it means something bad or irrelevant, its mainly used for some bad performance/talk.
  24. Funda/Fundae- its an acronym for "fundamentals" and means the same, this is usually used for getting the basics understood from someone( can be academic or non-academic)
  25. Fundu- it means good, intelligent, awesome. Anything which is not bad may be referred to fundu.
  26. chaos- Its the same as in the dictionary, i.e it means a problematic situation.
  27. Peace/peaceful- this does not have anything 2 do with fighting, it means "oh k, no problem, fine"
  28. App- its a short for "applying".eg- कीतने में app मारा (considering companies)
  29. Bunk- this is again a universal term for "missing a class/lecture"
  30. Chutiyaps- its a term used for mischiefs, its derived from the common hindi term "चुतीया"
  31. dayaa- this means showing pitty and this is what it exactly means in the slang case. eg- please bhai thodi toh daya dikhao
  32. despo- its a short for 'desperate', mainly regarded in a way that the person addressed is desperate for sex or girls.
  33. Dhakkan- it means a lid in hindi but in this case it means a stupid or an idiot person
  34. Fart- Not to confuse with the exact reference from the dictionary, it actually means "irrelevant talk or something useless or something boring".
  35. Enthu- its a short for "enthusiasm" and exactly means the same
  36. Fight- not in the literal sense but it means "to put the maximum effort in something"
  37. gen- it again a short for "general" inferring its meaning
  38. Frusto- its a short for "frustrated" with the same meaning.
  39. Give up- it can mean something which is unattainable(not interested 2 fight 4 it) or it can also be taken with the "fart" meaning
  40. frequency- this means the number of times the person gets engages in the auto-erotic activity, that mainly is referred to masturbation
  41. hajaar(हजार)-it means "thousand" in literal sense but actually its meant to convey something in gr8 quantity or a lot of things.
  42. Slog- it means to work really hard for something, mainly for exams but sometimes it may also be in sports
  43. stud-Actually it means "sexually active" but in this case it means someone who is extremely good in his/her field.
  44. scope- this refers to the extent to which the work can be done/will be successful
  45. saax- it suggest the positive exaggeration i.e for anything which is good or 2 good
  46. Pseud- anyone or anything who is highly westernized or has real good quality or has performed really well.
  47. pondy/BP- thats the term which is elongated for no reasons but it exactly means PORN
  48. Punter- a general term used to refer a general person
  49. ok types- anything which was good and went off well.
  50. mug/mugging- its used as a term which suggests "studying without any understanding" but actually in this case it means studying and just studying.
  51. kuch bhi kya (कुछ भी क्या)- it refers to the listeners disbeliefs in what the speaker is saying.
  52. keeda/keedai- it means a person with lot of crankiness or craziness

Now thats what is called as slang dictionary ;-). I love each and everything in it. Will try using them often, so that i don't forget them for the rest of my life. I am really tired after this research and so much of typing, now its time for me to sign off...BYE da..;-)
