I don't go to FB that much

You think by saying that you mean I don’t have time for social networking I am outgrown of social networks, you see! I’ve used Orkut and Myspace I have a life outside of FB I am too busy with my work, I don’t get time you see FB I have a lot of better things to do, I don’t FB the way you do I don’t like FB, I don’t know why people use it, it’s just dumb But let me tell you this   FB is helpful, they have communities and event invites too Instead of random browsing that you do, you might as well check your wall (why to waste time searching for funny or informative videos/articles when your friends can suggest you the same) It doesn’t hurt to drop a hi or a happy birthday in someone’s wall Using FB is different from being addicted to FB Slowly, you’ll see 1 billion people on FB, that’s almost the whole of India – just saying. I don’t work for FB, nor do I use a lot of FB, b...

Go for 1 vital than 10 trivial

Yes Go for a 6 km jog. No Get up at 6 am. Finish morning preliminary activities (brush your teeth, and take a dump ;)). Create a playlist in the iPod for jogging. Go for a 6 km jog. Read the newspaper. Charge the iPod. Write a blog article. Relax and get ready for the coming week. The point is that if you have 10 trivial and 1 vital in the list (say, a to-do list), then you might forget which one was vital. So, go for the 1 vital task and forget all the other trivial tasks. And of course, all trivial tasks become vital some or the other day, they won't slip, don't worry about them that much.

How to improve on 'X'

Do more of ‘X’, coz that’s a no-brainer way to improve on ‘X’. You can fill anything in place of ‘X’, coz you are what you do and if you keep doing more of ‘X’, you are bound to improve on ‘X’. PS : I can rap a Snoop Dogg song now, it took me around 200 Kms of car-stereo music to improve on it J .

They talk of politics like they know it

Now that there was an election in our part of the planet, everyone seems to talk of politics like they know it. The news people come up with their take on election results, and our folks at home and at workplace talk about it like it matters to them and like they are surprised ;-). I know it does matter to all of us! But whatever it may, do you support any politician wholeheartedly, I (really really) don’t think so. In that case, whoever wins doesn’t really matter that much, coz the country will run the same way it has been, there is nothing different about any leader that actually makes or breaks a nation. If you are a person who knows politics and follows leaders to understand how they are going to impact our future then this doesn’t apply to you, but frankly, I am yet to see a person like you J . PS : I look forward to surprises – may all the leaders do great at work. Next election, I’d try to follow all the leaders and vote for the one leader I ...

Disappoint her now

I got a call from a sales women, she asked me if I was interested in her product (which I am), but I am not really willing to pay for it; may be later but surely not now. All I want to do is follow the product and buy it later when appropriate (when I make that kind of money, that is J ). She called me 3 times, I had decided in the 2 nd call that I am not going to buy her product. But I just couldn’t say “I am not interested” on the 3 rd  call, instead, I told her to call me back at 3pm (AGAIN! the 4 th time). I thought why-disappoint-her-now; but I feel that that is foolishness coz I gotta disappoint her in sometime, so why not now. Lesson learnt - if you don’t want to buy her product, tell her then and there, disappoint her right now J …don’t waste your time and of course, a phone call.

If you wanna know your origins, bring them home

With so many relatives at home, I see all age groups doing different things and this is what I find: Youngest of the lot (the kids born in the 21st century) don't like food and they just can't take NO for an answer, if they want something done, it's made sure that somehow it gets done. The late 90s born babies are teenagers now and they seem to be really the best in the lot, they listen to what the elderly says, they don't back answer, nor do they back question ;-). Guys in their early 20s (like me) seem to say to themselves "been there had that", as always, they are happy to help in shifting items, bringing tea and helping in all the small ways possible. Some of them are about to get married and they are the hot property now, some of them think of getting higher studies, some of them just want to make more money, and some others just wanna relax (relax - that's me). The host of the gathering, the oldies in the lot is enjoying the most, ye...

This is what happens when you get used to

For almost 5 years, I was living in the hottest place on earth – Chennai. I did not have an Air-Conditioner in my place (college hostel, and the beach side apartment I rented), and there used to be power cuts all the times but, that never got me, and I wasn’t complaining the way I do right now. Now-a-days, I just don’t go to a single place without air-conditioning. You know why, because I GOT USED TO air-conditioning J . As far as possible, I avoid places which do not have an air conditioner (except restrooms ;-)). Luxury is great but , getting used to luxury isn’t so good, is it!

I liked it, but I did not click SHARE

I read a lot of articles that really don’t suite my blog or social status, like-a you don’t want to know, nor do I want to drive you (my subscribers) out of my blog . For instance, IF (in caps) I go to some really cocky or explicit website ( yeah! I do ) then I would never want to click the SHARE button, although I really enjoyed whatever I read/saw. WHY? Because it’s simply UN-share-ABLE in my network, because of the myth that what I share kind of defines what I do on a daily basis and what kind of guy I am . So, if you are a funny cocky explicit website – a college kid will not hesitate to click the share button, but the same college kid after a few years with his office ‘grow-up’ friends in his network will never click that SHARE button. If you want to make a difference with your blog, find some 20 priceless guys who will invariably share your stuff all across their networks not just coz they liked it, but, bcoz it’s not just an article any more , it’s their attitude/social s...

Addicted to doing everything myself

I know, that sounds like an answer to an interview question - " Name one of your weakness ", coz usually when people are asked this question, they say something that sounds like a strength to an employer. ( I have given interviews! I had been an amateur and I had acted the way everyone told me to (silly!) - so I know what they say, when they say whatever is that they say in an interview ;-P ). I find myself really addicted to doing everything myself and it's just not helping me that much. I think this is a weakness for an employee and the employer...people in teams, especially leaders in the team (by attitude not designation) should encourage people to do things however easily and most effectively it's possible. The point I want to stress on is that - you are not expected to do everything yourself, ASK for help . It might sound cocky, but it is something that you can recite everyday morning before starting work: I am not here to finish the work myself, I am here to...

A lot of guys your age

They : There are guys our age doing ground breaking things that we couldn't even think of. A lot of our friends are maturing ten times faster than us, I meant work wise. There are guys who still look 23 although they are way past 30, and we are 23, but, we look like their big brother. There are guys who roam around quiet a lot and upload crazy snaps like never before, looks like they are having a lot more fun than you ever did. I : So what? They : Just saying (will say it again every once in while). I : cool, good for them. Moral of the conversation : exactly what my T-shirt says - "Do I look like I care". You lack what you lack, so be it, if there is anything you can do about it, then do it, only and only because "I" want to, and not because "They" told me to.

My god! I pay Rs 12 per day to Adidas

I just saw an advt that said "get contact lenses for an year at Rs 7.78 per day". I was a little shocked when I saw that advt coz, I never knew that people pay almost 8 bucks everyday to wear their lenses, and spend 2 minutes of their time doing it. I am not commenting about what is cheap and what isn't, I am trying to help you see what all new things I saw in my daily expenses .  Lenses - Rs 3000 (per year) / 300 (days I wear my lenses) = Rs 10 + 2 minutes of every day Shoes - Rs 2500 (per year) / 200 (days I wear my shoes) = Rs 12.5 + 2 minutes of every day T Shirt - Rs 500 (two years) / 50 (days I wear my shirt) = Rs 10 + 1 minute of every day Car - Rs 500 (a week) / 5 (days I drive) = Rs 100 + 45 minutes of every day Wrist Watch - Rs 6000 (two years) / 600 (days I wear it) = Rs 10 + 1 minute of every day After seeing my daily expenses for the things I listed above, I think it would be better if there was a store that could rent me clothes, shoes, lenses, a watch, ...

Don't ask questions you know the answers to

What you are thinking is why would anybody ask such questions…but, it’s funny that a lot of us do ask such questions when we know that a smarty-pants in on the receiver’s end and he doesn’t seem to think the same about us; As in, we consciously ask them such questions to make sure that he knows that we know all he knows (re-read the last 10 words ;-)). If that was confusing, all I meant was – we ask those questions because we want to tell him -“I am well aware of all that you know, I am equally smart”. I might be generalizing a bit (may be a byte ;-)), but, I think asking questions just because it’s a GOOD ONE is no reason to ask it . Ask only those questions you need answers to. We are smart, it’s just that we are trying too hard not to be . So, even if the question you know the answer to is a really smart one, keep it to yourself (share it with the others because you want to make sure everyone knows about it, but don’t question and answer yourself, that’s just lame ).
