I PUBLISH, THEREFORE I AM

Some people think that social networks are uncool, that is, it's not cool to hang out or use social networks regularly. Who are these guys ? those who keep saying "I don't have time for facebook/twitter",  "I am trying to give up facebook/twitter", or those who tell others (with a very negative connotation) things like, "I think you are always on Facebook". May be social networks are uncool. I am not trying to change anyone's mindset. That's one's choice. But let me take a wild guess, most of them don't consider reading a newspaper for 30 minutes uncool. Essentially, it's the news feeds we are talking about (it's a lot more than that, but when you want to compare newspapers to social networks, "news feeds" is the one main feature). If you think news feeds are irrelevant, then both newspaper and Facebook are irrelevant. But again, you read newspaper regularly, but you say social networks are irrelevant, funny e...

Thanks to internet, information is getting created like crazy (for example, this post took me just 20 minutes to write). Information is really making our life difficult; I think, we (in general) want to be able to do  mainly  two things with the information we consume, quick recall and recap: Quick recall : We get loads of information and then we are asked a question that can be answered with the information we just read. Our power to recall gets diminished if we consume more information than we can process and if the information wasn't presented that well.  So, information from a good source is to our rescue because good content sources are crisp and to the point. I understand that “ recalling ” is an individual’s ability, but by all means, information can be written in such a way that it is easily re-callable.    Recap : sometimes you attend a meeting or finish reading a book and then you are asked to give a summary/recap of all tha...

In some shops you have to buy a coupon in one counter and then give that coupon in another (or the same) counter to get your stuff/food. I am not sure if there are survey results that support this type of customer experience, but personally, I think that the two step process is lengthy and harmful to business. Let me tell you what I mean when I say it is “harmful to business”. I go to a restaurant. I go with the intention of eating a good meal, so, I buy a coupon for that. So far, so good. But then, I am (almost) always undecided after a full meal as to whether I am full or not; that is, I think I can have something more; may be an extra desert or an extra drink. But I don’t feel THAT strongly about getting the extra food that I will follow the two step process to get it (given that, there is always a line at the coupon counter). Some of you probably said, "I am busy with >>some<< work". Think twice before you say that. No wait! actually, don't say that! Let me tell you why?  we have like 54 weekends a year. Till we are 20-22 years old, our life is controlled or should I say, our life is strictly moderated . After 20-22, we are pretty much ready to roll wherever/whoever we want to roll-on ;-). So, if you take the  22 years to 27 years timeline  (when our responsibilities are almost equal to none). We have 5 years, that is, 270 weekends. Holy crap! just 270 weekends and you say you are busy...I say, don't fuck with yourself. I am not saying "do this, do that", I am just saying, do something entertaining (it can't be your office work, unless you work at a strip bar. Bazzzinga!). A lot of people are always game for some plan. A lot of them don't do shit and end up wasting their weekends. My heart goes out to you. Also, being busy is a really cool thing for this ...

Forget the government, just think about what happens in the office meetings or at home, “majority wins” is probably the best way to make a decision or come to a consensus, isn’t it?  I was talking to a friend about democracy (I really was, very unlike me aey!). He was saying  Democracy isn’t a perfect form of government  coz there is always a minority that doesn’t get want it wants. True that. The question is,  what about the minority ? It’s clearly unfair that they don’t get what they want. So, how can we ensure that the minority gets what it wants. The only way I can think of is:  brainwash the minority and the majority (the whole group)  to think about what’s best for the group. With that, we don’t have a minority anymore. The next question is,  Who’ll brainwash everyone and who decides what’s best for the group ? the leader of the group, of course. The world will still have banners, but they will all be digital . Actually in most developed countries, banners are already digitized. Technology doesn't make our jobs irrelevant (at least, most of the times), instead, it changes our job role and demands a change of skill set. There is another point. Technology doesn't just take away your job, sometimes it will demand you to rapidly improve on your skill set (almost like overnight). Just think about iPad. iPad is a bitch! all IT (Information Technology)  companies have to build applications for an iPad or else they become irrelevant. I am Tylor Durdan.  Doesn't matter if you are poor or rich, I just want you to know that you are at your best, you are simply not living if you think it's going to get any better. Life is overrated, I hope its gets better as we go . This is one wise-ass thing you gotta know before you turn 30. Life is really-really-overrated and yes, I can't prove it. If you don't believe me, wait till you turn 50, you'll get your proof. But unfortunately, you would have lost a lifetime.
