MS Outlook is a lifesaver - your probably suck at using it
You should know this…most of us (at work) spend around 20% of our time on MS Outlook. You do care about that 20% of your time, right?
Whenever someone says anything about a meeting or about what I need to do a week from now, I go to my outlook and mark that email as *follow-up* or create a task with a reminder, it takes just 30 seconds to do it…I’ve been doing that for over a year now and I understand that reminders are far better than your memory…this is why:
- Memory doesn’t interrupt you all of a sudden, reminders do, and it does get your immediate attention.
- When you postpone a reminder to a later date, you do it because you know the priorities and that that task can wait. You make a conscious choice.
- Reminders help you understand that the task is not even worth doing on a later date (at least, most of the times).
That’s it. Learn MS Outlook, it’s a lifesaver. I am even ready to pay you if you can help me understand how to use every piece of that software.
If you don’t know how to use the to-do bar in MS outlook, get a load of this (it will take 10 minutes of your time). Let me tell you, if you can follow what’s in it, you will tremendeously improve on planning tasks and following up with emails a.k.a work. After all, planning and following-up are the two very important activities of our office life.
PS: I did suck at it a year back. I was old school…when I heard something in a meeting, I used to note it down in my notebook or post a sticky-note that doesn’t stick for more than 3 days and gets lost every now and then.
