To forgive aint company policy

To err is human, but to forgive ain't company policy.

Mistakes have serious repercussions and Once you commit a mistake, you are tagged as the careless guy. There is always this MURPHY'S LAW: The mistake you commit comes to your company's notice only a few minutes before the deadlines and you just cannot rollback to make corrections.

Bottom line: Mistake made...cannot be corrected...Don't be a jack ass and say 'I take responsibility' ;-)...just pray that the customer doesn't spot it.

Screw-ups have been the real reason for inventions and our scientists don't wanna call what they do as screw-ups, instead, they prefer calling it as experiments/hypothesis. If you are doing your job with no screw-ups then you are following whats right, but lets say, if you screw-up at times, it doesn't mean your are doing something wrong, it simply means, you are trying ways which are still not looked upon. When trying out new things, if you err then its a screw-up else its called INNOVATION.

The CEO of HCL wrote a good article on Miracle of making mistakes and its very clear that the top level management guys know the value of making mistakes ;-P, but what to do, they have a business to run and not some invention lab (no complains ;-)).

A company prefers to get rid of the 10000 employees who screw-up; even if 1 amongst them is an inventor.
