CAT fight Mechanics

Today was one of the very blissful day for the family, this thing makes me feel that endings are always happy. One really important news to use/spread, My cousin brother (name withheld ;-)) who had been fighting this CAT race for around 6+ years has finally struck the cord with a final call from IIM- Lucknow. There is no need to talk about how difficult it is to get in such a premier institute, so I'd head on with what really came 2 my mind when my mom told me about my cousin brother converting the GDPI to get the final offer.

I seriously look up 2 him from the academic aspect and BTW other aspects have not yet been explored for me to look up 2 [;)]. So sticking to his academics, He has had a stealer schooling as well as engineering profile. Post engineering, he has worked with great software companies which is again very commendable.

I'd list some of the most caustic experiences which he has faced in the road to his success [;)]
  1. Appeared 4 CAT in 2002,2003,2004,2005,2006... all were washed away with not even a single call, but then in 2007 he got just a single call but he finally cracked it (so, in all 6 CAT Appearances).
  2. Highly criticized for letting down the offers from some of the other premier institutes like DOMS of IIT-M which he left around 4yrs back (i think so).
  3. Attended in numerous interviews and appeared for almost all the possible tests for a good b-school. He had been called for interviews from other b-schools like FMS, XLRI, JBIMS, SPJAIN & SJSOM IIT-B etc, which are the most sort after institutes. These institutes called him almost year after year, but they were the one's which he couldn't convert.
From the above fact sheet, what we can easily infer is that he had been a total looser in the past 5 years (only the b-school aspect, he has faired much better than me in whatever you take, so its just relative to his own capabilities & not any one else), I have lots of things which could be easily inferred from this blissful news (mainly for me):
  1. Never get turned off with some bad news coz may be its for the good- if he would have got into IIT-M or some other institutes for which he appeared then he would have missed this moment.
  2. Hard work never goes waste- I have no idea of how much he worked but still I feel getting to this point is not an easy task, its just that his work had been tested by his patients.
  3. Never conclude anything about a person- its not that a person becomes a looser if he has performed bad coz there is always space for improvement and probably something which may not be in his reach would have gone wrong ( that is, due to someone else's mistake he might have lost it).
  4. Things have to exactly fall into proper places- there will be a time when everything unfolds with ease, thats when we get what we want. It was a golden chance for him wherein he performed quiet decent in the interview, cleared the CAT cutoffs & finally have a good work-experience...which has made all the things fall into proper places (as required).
  5. Keep the fight on- be determined for what you want, don't settle for anything below it. It may happen that you just missed it, but there are still a lot of possibilities to come again and cover the gap. Never loose your will to get that thing done.

There are a lot many other things which I infer from this saga but the main one's were illustrated with my level of understanding. I truly feel from the bottom of my heart, that he should perform as good as possible and get a lateral offer from the institute with as fat package as in the institutes reach. Good bless !! and congratzZZ 2 him for such an out of the box performance.

CHEERZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
