My Patti's davasam

I m back to my house in Hyderabad and it feels gr8. Now leaving that part, this blog post is dedicated to my Very own patti ( expired ). Its been around 10yrs to her death and that's really a long time. Not that i m sad or something but it was her davasam today and we went out to some place called "sallarguda", which was a 40min drive from our house (srinagar colony) and carried out the ceremony. Its my Patti's (Dharmu patti) तीर्थ or दवसम. Its actually the death ceremony which comes once a year and luckily this time i was there for this, somethings which i came to know today (about the ceremony) are listed to the best of my knowledge/understanding.
  1. Performed by Son for him parents.
  2. Does not actually depend on the exact day of death as expected, it actually follows the Dravidiyan calendar system.
  3. Fundas: its like giving food to the dead once a year, this seems to be once a year for us but actually one year accounts for one day for them (the dead). So spiritually we are giving them food everyday with our yearly ceremony.
  4. Its costly ;-), nothing @ heart but its really expensive, around Rs4000. Any amount is less considering parents if we have enough of it. So no botheration.
  5. Food is really good and worth the ceremony, its really special for the dead and after the पूजा all the family members who are present get to have a stomach full of what ever is served for the dead(same menu;-)).
  6. Duration: it almost took us 4hrs considering everything from driving to eating till returning back home.

So that's what exactly i gained from this experience and its really good to know about such things in my religion, may be its late or too late but nevertheless its there in my head and i am fully filled with its fundas to put in the places of discussion.

PS: good experience regarding the spiritual knowledge gained
PS2: really reminds me of the days spent with my expired patti. Brings all memories back.
PS3:Her death scene is still in my head coz its the only death which i have witnessed live, i can never forget the day, as i was present when she took her last breath.;-(
PS4: May her soul live in peace.:-)
