GOOGLE Headquaters

Google's HQ, otherwise known as Googleplex, is situated in Mountain view, California in Silicon Valley. Throughout the corridors between the four buildings, there are all sorts of Google memorabilia on display. They even employ guides who specialize in explaining Google's history to people. There are lava lamps everywhere, as well as free coke and candy all over the place. They've also got huge multicolored exercise balls everywhere.
People's workspaces are full of individuality, and the atmosphere is relaxed. There are couches everywhere. People can have a lie down when they need to and take a break.
Google's staff loves sports. The big guns often have meetings at the pool table or in the corridors.
The casual atmosphere in Google HQ can be demonstrated by the fact that staff can bring their pets to work, and the pets are allowed to wander around the office.
Heaps of people have pets at Google HQ.
There's a rule within Google: that there must be food within 100 feet of every employee.
There was once an engineer who felt a bit ripped off about that rule because his nearest food counter was 120 feet away, so he asked for the error to be corrected, tongue in cheek. The relevant department replied: "There's a restaurant right above your desk, and you are definitely less than 100 feet from that one."
This looks more like a toyshop than a workspace!
Rumor has it, a dude who had just joined Google had not been able to find a flat, so he lived at Google HQ for a month. He lived a lot better than Tom Hanks in The Terminal. Meals are provided, couches everywhere, there are showers in the bathrooms, a gym and a swimming machine. There are even pianos in music rooms you could use. Better than the facilities at home! The dude didn't leave Google HQ for a month straight.
It's all fun and games!
Whiteboards at Google HQ are filled with all sorts of great (or not) ideas in all sorts of different languages.
There's free food all over the place, it almost look like a supermarket.
There's also a free laundry room for use for the staff.

This is the best thing which has ever happened 2 me(till date). Seriously man!!!!.....i was dead hunting for a job....not that i was hunting from a long time its just been 3 days. But i was really scared about all the eligibility fundas and all shit things which had happened to the previous batches in our college.

Now i think that i am in a real good position in life as i have always had some feeling for myself to have performed bad in my schooling, but now all of a sudden i m in a very comfy position. It feels really good to have a job (that 2 one yr b4 the date of joining).

Now one thing which i had promised to myself b4 getting the job is that, after i get the job i would be preparing really hard for my MBA, this is a promise to be taken care off, Just bcoz i cant play a fool on myself. So i really feel that i m 2 get along with my CAT prep and make sure that i m getting somewhere, this is a universal fact that my parents are really looking forward from me to have a good result in CAT, hope i don't just blow away their believes by not performing.

Now seriously i believe that i have done a gr8 job in the interview. My interview was really good as i answered almost everything which was asked, so now i m very happy with myself.

Getting to what WIPRO is all about (its impact in our coll/class)

1. It has taken 9 student from our class- 7 boys and 2 girls.....In all 14 from our department
   
2. It has got a pay of 3.25 L/annum....actually it depends on how the training goes,It can fluctuate, actually i have enough of confidence that ill get what is maximum.
3. My priorities for the location were: hyderabad, chennai, pune
4. My name was the last in the list, was dead scared as my name was called the last.
5. I was the topper from my dept, so no aptitude test for me...direct interview (technical and HR)
6. I had failed badly in my CTS aptitude but then regained the confidence and was ready for the interview.
7. The three "most wanted" have got in the same company....Kishore Joe Girish ....
   
8. Me and my friend who were the unluckiest two as mentioned in my CTS rejection post....have made it together to this company. That's me and Joe Jerald.
9. The luckiest people of the class who were not having eligibility for many other coming companies have luckly got placed....Vickrum, Joe and of course me....;-)...
10. Some deserving candidates have not got in it....but i think the company doesn't deserve them...they have better companies to join.
    
11. Last but the most real fact is that.....its highly a luck factor....i think 50% luck, 40% communication skills and 10% technical skills.

Now its time 2 play the game...........yeah man....i m very happy....i have made it.....But at last as everyone in our class have not got placed, there is a little corner of disappointment for the deserving candidates of our class within me. I think its just that the companies coming are good for them and the companies gone do not deserve them.......good luck my friends....hope u people make it......

WIPRO Interview

It was a real hectic day @ college....went in the early morning and had myself fully groomed for the interview. Reached late in the morning i.e somewhere around 15 minutes late.

W.I.P.R.O PPT(Pre Placement Talks)

It was nice that wipro had come early in the morning not like CTS coming late and giving a bad news regarding me writing aptitude. Leave the thing which is past and never care for anything coz sometime in life "We feel that things have really been our ways but actually later in life it turns out 2 b a mistake which we feel we have committed". So the principle in life which i learned is that never take things in the negative way, what ever happens, happens for the good.
Now getting out of the emotional part of the day.... lets get to the actual post.

Time Line of my INTERVIEW

8:30 am- all the toppers were told to report in ECE department and like good candidates we all accumulated there.
11:00 am- No sign of any HR or any TECHNICAL pannel, i was sitting all alone and getting pissed , But at last they came @ around 12:00 and told all of us to have our lunch and come @ 2:00pm
2:30pm- My interview started


MY FIRST EVER INTERVIEW(DEBUT)

Now i'd really wanna mention what exactly happened inside........just wait n watch.......

P1:Tell me about yourself (i was really prepared for this question..just vomited whatever i had mugged..;-))
kickass: sir i am girish mahadevan, i hail from mumbai and i have done most of my schooling there, i m studying in the computer science department and this you can interpret as me to be interested in becoming a s/w professional, wipro being my core company i feel my qualifications suit the company and i'd really like to work in it, My greatest strength is that i get a lot motivated by looking @ people who have achieved something in life or some person with unique characteristics. I m really disciplined and have got enough of confidence to work in the s/w industry.
P1: Why have you scored so less in 12th( what the fuck man!!!....i was telling all about my self and this fellow was looking @ my 12th marks, i had also mentioned 6 semester marks.....where did they go....nywaz i handled it)
kickass: sir truly speaking i had no inclination towards studies and was not very much serious about studies...this led me to fall in a poor performance range.....But sir i feel i have grow out of that failure and just to that fact i have mentioned all my semester marks and have done fairly well and have been able to cover up for my 12th marks...but as a mater of fact my 12th performance cannot be hidden but can be overshadowed with my engineering performance.
P1:Oh k very good, can you write a program for "Single linked list"(hell yeah!!.....i knew it man, actually i had mentioned DATA STRUCTURES as my areas of interests)
kickass: i finally came up with a program.....actually it was not totally correct nor it was wrong, only that i had done some checking which was irrelevant...he corrected n then proceeded.
p1:Define Deadlock(deadly question?)
kickass:Sir can i draw and explain?(very meticulously!!!)
p1: ya sure you can do it..
kickass: took some time and then came up with a "Traffic signal situation"
p1:Dont explain that diagram explain the situation which occurs between nodes
kickass:Wondering.....then came up with that diagram and explained about the process and shit!.
p1:What do you mean by "Mutual Exclusion"?(this was asked on the basis of my previous answer)
kickass: explains the whole process of how the resource is allocated to a single process..n blah blah blah blah
p1:Tell me the ways by which you can prevent "Deadlocks"?
kickass: sirrrrrrrrrrr...using "Mutual exclusion" and not pertaining to "Centralized algorithms" and also using "Acknowledgments and Time Outs"...
p1:what!!! centralized algorithm......what are those....explain?
kickass: sir they are....started blabbering
p1:Oh k now, u have got 100 in ur C-Lab?what program did you get in the lab?(with full pride)
kickass: started thinking......then came up with the program which i had learned...sir i think it was finding a "Palindrome of a number" sir....
p1:just that or something else?
kickass:again thought for some time and then......sir actually i don't remember the other one as it was long back in my first semester.
p1: oh k can you write a program for "Palindrome"?
kickass: ya sure sir...(with full confidence)
p1:oh k write?.....
kickass: started off with the header files as usual then thought for sometime and then wrote the program with difficulty.....sir program is over...
p1: had the first look @ my program....what is this "Exponential function" doing in C language
kickass: oh yes sir....in C there is no operator which performs exponential operation(why the fuck did i come up with that stupidity..)
p1:this is not the way 2 do it....think over the function and tell me?
kickass: really having an eye on the HR form....oh k sir...then suddenly comes up with the answer
p1:see you should learn lots of programs and write them and practice...(advice from GOD)
kickass: yes sir...i have lost the touch.....i need to practice
p1: oh k Girish, tell me something about the project which you have done
kickass: explodes with high funda words and gives the answer
p1:but tell me how do you store words in ur dictionary?
kickass: trying 2 convince p1.....sir actually i used "Files concept" to implement the same......
p1:i cant believe this.....there are around 10000 words, did you put all of them in the file....how can it work man?..there would be "Time complexity"...(as it was from the net, unable 2 answer)
kickass: sir but my program was running.....it got executed
p1: i just cant believe how can you store these words..from where did you get the words...tell me what do you exactly do in the program..
kickass:sir actually i had no other option...had to take it...but i implemented an algorithm which was taken from the internet....(dead for sure man.....why the fuck did i say internet)
p1: see you should not take the code from internet and just do your project, you should know what the logic is and then implement it.
kickass: yes sir there is a lot to learn sir.....i'd learn it b4 engineering
p1: reaches to the HR form...which is indirectly making me eligible for the HR round.
kickass: as happy as ever.....fuck man...this could have been done earlier..
p1:again giving advice....see the program which you wrote is a 2nd standard program. this anybody will write, you should learn to write better code.
kickass: paying the lowest attention and just concentrating on the HR form.
p1:giving his hand to me....
kickass: reaches forward and gives a firm handshake and says " Thank you very much sir".

I came out and was really happy.....truly speaking i was actually showing off my HR form to others who had their interview left. Then i headed to the HR in the second floor, filled the form and after around 2 hours my name was called for HR interview and one more thing, we were told to write "T" on our HR form just to show that we are toppers.


HR INTERVIEW

p1:comes out and calls my name "Girish Mahadevan plz come in"
kickass: goes in with a smile
p1:how are you Girish?
kickass: fine sir..how are you?
p1: i m fine...you haven't filled the form actually..plz fill it.
kickass:filling the form.
p1:oh k Girish "how are you?"
kickass: wondering.....as this was the second time he was asking....fine sir.....but no questioning back
p1:so Girish "tell me about yourself"
kickass: reciting the same speech which was mugged
p1:what do you think in yourself which requires improvement?
kickass: assertiveness, emotional and so on.....putting fart for 2 minutes
p1:why did you join sathyabama?
kickass: sir actually i had done bad in my schooling and its very prominent from my resume...... then i put around 10 points...
p1:impressed.....can you just give your resume.
kickass:takes it out and gives it
p1:oh k what is your feedback on the interview which you had.
kickass: sir it was nice overall, my panel sir was really friendly and i lost all my nervousness and was very comfortable( the biggest lie ever....;-))
p1:do you have any questions?...what do you expect from wipro?
kickass: comes up with almost 5 question...about going abroad, company policy, superior, microsoft cources offered in training....
p1: answers them and asks " any other questions"
kickass: no sir that is all.

BOTTOMLINE:

What ever happens is not in my hands but the thing which was possibly in my hands were handled with care.....so no tension....if i get it, then good or else keep trying.....best policy to be followed...

OH k man.....i m very much happy with my interview apart from me getting selected or not....as always i feel i have done my part.......oh k folks the game is over.....

WIPRO fight is ON

Oh my god!.....after such a disappointment i think i have regained my confidence today..

I have got myself in the eligibility list of WIPRO. This was for sure as i knew it earlier itself. But again in the morning the department staff showed me a letter which had come from the PLACEMENT CELL about the WIPRO funda for taking the first 5 student directly for interview i.e they would be exempted from the aptitude test. This is a 100% sure news.

Fortunately i am there in the list and i have been placed in the 2nd position in the department(as out of 10 all the 8 toppers have got in CTS). I seriously stand a good chance in this company as i have got 2 days 2 prepare for my technical round and as far as HR(human resources) is concerned, i think its "a piece of cake for" me...Again i m a little bit worried bcoz of my last FAILURE. I have got everything 2 give 2 this company and i have heard that it gives good package and package is something of the least importance( at this point of time ). I am hunting job and not looking for package for the campus placements.

GOOD NEWS

Some of my friends have made it 2 CTS ......

1. Aravind- this fucker was very worried after the interview and was seriously having no hopes to get through......but at last he has made it and this turned out 2 be a biggest surprise for him....i have always had faith in him, he is really hardworking and has good skills 2 work under pressure.....In all Aravind ROCKS....;-)
2. Deep David- this is a computer genius, he knows things which are of least importance but when he does it people around him will come to know about his capabilities....I have known only one person from the class who can write programs by himself(not the simple ones but tuff ones)...gr8 guy....he is made 2 b a s/w professional....and he has done it.....cheers for him and his girlfriend( even she got selected).....deep is a big flirt by nature....;-)
3. Farrukh Shamim- without a doubt, he is the most hard working candidate of our class. I have been with him in the hostel(not in his room but with him), and i know how much he studies.....believe it or not he is a book worm....this guy is from BIHAR and he is a "bhai with a heart"....i seriously admire him as he is really cool about the things happening around and does play safe always( with studies )....Farrukh has a gr8 future ahead...
4. Hari Krishna- This boy has taken the whole class by surprise...he has just attended 1 year of college curriculum and had a dozen of arrears to clear just the day b4 campus placements but this guy has a good capacity of convincing people....he is huge and nobody messes with him....and he is really good in taking bullshit....;-)....just kidding....he has got a good knowledge about all the company salaries and all corporate fundas are clear in his mind....any questions about companies, then he is the man 2 b approached.....Hari has got selected in CTS and hope he does not bunk the company the same way as he does in the college....;-)..."best of luck GUNDAAAA"........

CTS Rejection

Oh no!! its "Cognizant Technology Solutions" rejection

This was my first job application.I had enormous confidence within me to attend the interview but then there were a lot of other things that happened in disguise which are ought to be discussed.

Morning Massacre

This fucking institute is not at all maintained and managed. These fuckers told us around ten days back; (about) the 10 toppers of the CSE department are not required to write the aptitude test and can directly go through the interview rounds. But all of a sudden today in the morning they say that those who are in top 6 are exempted from the aptitude round and rest all have to write the exam.
As i was 8th in my Department i had 2 go through the aptitude round. How!....a person who has prepared for interview rounds would most likely expect him 2 b tested in the interview but instead that person is made 2 sit for the aptitude rounds, this really creates a big confusion. I have seriously been damaged with this Rejection in the aptitude round.

Mismanagement

8:30am- they tell us about the "first 6 toppers" funda...Got really fucked!!!!!
9:00am- PPT( pre-placements talks)...which was really good....they disclosed the package to be 3.01 lacks/annum(descent salary).
11:00am- The aptitude test begins ....i literally had no idea about it..
12:30am to 8:00pm- those mother fuckers told us to wait for the aptitude results( this is the best example of our mismanagement and our staff coordination).
8:00pm- I dint get my name called in our so called auditorium by our placement officers.
9:00pm- Return back home with gr8 disappointment and have nothing 2 do but regret

LESSONS 2 LEARN

• Do not believe in our department rumors
  
• Make yourself prepared for aptitude round
• Disappointments leads to something creative
• Mother fuckers will always stay mother fuckers..

SIVAJI-The boss

Today is the d-day for Rajnikant. Sivaji is the name which says it all. What a movie, What a star, What a hype.
This is a fantastic moment for each n every rajni fan alive.They have been waiting for this particular day from the past 2 yrs. Actually this movie was supposed to release on April 13th-14th (my bday..tamil new yr), But due to some reasons it got postponed to this date. It was really disappointing but it was worth a wait.

I saw the trailer in NDTV. I just can say one thing about it, he has been working really hard (4 his age) and has giving good output for the driven input.

Don't know about how the movie will fair but it is obvious enough for me to conclude that a RAJNI movie never goes flop, if at all the movie is an utter waste, it has 2 run a minimum of 200 days(m not kidding!...its a fact...this is a flop for him(200 days :-D)). By the way, no chance that this movie is going flop(no way man).

oh k now....enough of talks about Rajni. We should not just stick to him, there is something like an "Actress" in this movie who gets overshadowed by Rajni.

She is a gorgeous female and has achieved a status of BOMB in Tamil and Telgu film industry. Pics would be enough to prove it..........

Surprise @ placements

I just came 2 know about the class ten toppers and i was sure to be in that, so not all that surprised about the news but its just that in the ten toppers i have come 8th and now i have got a pass which permits me to attend the technical interview of " Cognizant Technology Solutions " without having 2 write the aptitude test conducted by the company in our campus.

Surprising part: after the tough schedule which i had recently made, mainly involving aptitude has suddenly disappeared and now i m just left with technical and HR.

Hip Hip hurray!!!!....got around 7 days 2 just concentrate on technical and HR interview and have almost got myself closer 2 the company's arena[:-D]. This is really a golden opportunity bcoz as mentioned in my previous posts that my 12th results will hinder the eligibility criteria of many companies coming to our campus. Truly speaking i have got very few companies apart from the first two i.e Cognizant and Wipro in which i am eligible to apply.

Happy for the moment and hope to continue.......bye

Road to my Placements

I m really worried about what is gonna happen in the placements. Its kinda freaking me out.
But i have decided to go under a rigorous training b4 attending my campus placements. Its not that i don't have confidence or that i m over confident, but its just that i am SHY 4 the past FAILURES which i have experienced(in school..:-P).

Keeping coooooooooooooooool. I have finally decided to have a 10 day preparation b4 the first company comes to our campus(Cognizant Technology Solutions(CTS)). This is 2 make sure that i am not compromising on working hard for the placements(just wanting to give the maximum i can).

6th semester results

TOUCH DOWN

What a lovely day. It was our first day in the college after the reopening as our final yr commences. As i went searching for our class room, i found that it was the same class as that of our first year class (when v entered engineering) . Its Kinda sentimental that the place where i started my first yr is the same place where i am gonna end my 4th yr(final yr).

Ohhhhhh k now coming 2 the main part. In the morning as usual there was a tea break and then while returning 2 the class ; Albert sir called me and just asked whether i am opting for higher studies or am i interested in placements. As usual i told sir that i am more inclined 2wards higher studies but 4 backup i require myself 2 b placed somewhere as getting an MBA in the college of my choice is not very certain. Then when i asked sir about the eligibility criteria of 12th percentage, sir told me that there r chances that the top 10 students of the CSE department will just have to attend the interview and no eligibility criteria exists for them. This was a gr8 news for me as i was lacking my 12th eligibility criteria for almost all the basic companies which were coming 2 our campus for placements.

I was just praying that i should b in the TOP 10. Actually i was fifth in my class overall and wanted to b in the first 3 to keep my place in the first 10 of our department. Everything depended on this semester results.

We went 4 lunch and then when v came back, the results were announced by our HOD (actually sir announced the names of the students who had passed). I was sure that ill b there in the pass list(i m not that bad ;-)). Then when it came 2 the results, i got 88.8% overall and i think i have made it this time, i mean i m first in the class (yippee). The second highest according 2 me is 88 (pretty close) but nywaz i am as happy as always. Not that worried about coming first, just that i wanted to be in the top 10 list.
This is the best news which i could have ever got for this moment.

I've got Allergy

SAD DAY...PEACE NIGHT!

Yesterday i just discovered that my body is full of rashes. I got dead scared !!!!seriously. Not bcoz of the rashes, only bcoz of the reason that i had thought of studying all night for the last two days of my holidays. But then as usual; i m gonna sleep early @ around 10:00pm.

Not a problem though as i think i have got enough of fighting spirit 2 compensate this b4 the coming Sunday. I have got this Aim Cat which i have always been waiting 4(just kiddin!). Last time in Aim Cat i think my rank was somewhere near 5000(AIR in Time). This is shear bullshit. I have studied enough for getting good marks in the coming Mock, but still i am a bit scared.

Ohhhhhhhhhh k!!! now getting 2 the rashes part. In the morning, my body was fully red which was mis contemplated by me 4 CHICKEN POX. This threatened me for a long time as i had a lot of things 2 day in the coming months. But in the morning i went 2 a doctor nearby (Dr.Balaji), i think he had already seen these sort of things b4, Just straight away as i went in he saw these rashes in my hand for some second and gave me a prescription and told me 2 eat breakfast n come for an injection(in my ass ;-D). Ate breakfast in a very descent hotel (nearby) and went 2 take an injection. Then within few hours 50% of the rashes in my body disappeared(miracle huh!!). Then somewhere around 3pm i went out to sujatha chittis place 2 c their new house, Came back n then i c no rashes(100% clear). Then went out with paddu n sailu (bessy CCD then pupil), also met 2 guys (one frm the reunion and the other was his friend(they were doing MBA in PSG Coimbatore and came 2 chennai for internship)).

Causes of these rashes:

1. Me eating non-veg in some restaurant.
2. Drinking cool drinks.
3. Eating chocolates.
4. Exposed to the scorching heat.

Moral of the story:
Never eat non-veg in the summer(that 2 in Chennai??? forget it)
Thats it man...this comes in my greatest escapes...wokay...bye.
